Recordings by the Knowe O’Deil have appeared in several different formats thanks to the sterling work of Owen Tierney’s Attic Records. This new compilation brings together a selection of songs and tunes from those recordings, now on CD.

The Knowe O’Deil (or the Knowe of Dale) is a burnt mound at Quandale on the island of Rousay. It is the largest Bronze Age burnt mound on Rousay. Usually crescent-shaped and containing a mass of accumulated burnt stones adjacent to a water trough, they were used for a variety of activities such as cooking, and fulling.
